A great morning's netball, 24 players including 6 U14s attended. A special thank you to the 4 U12s who made up the 4 teams. Really much better to play than to stand on the side and have enough teams to be playing continuously. So thanks to them we played two full matches of 4 x 10 minute quarters. We juggled positions around only a little to even out the matches. It was not easy managing 4 squads but hopefully everyone enjoyed playing to gain as much competive experience as possible.Thanks to the umpires & Gill who also stepped in to help sparing you the agony of me having to umpire! Most importantly some fun netball, great sunshine & I hope that you improved your skills at the same time. Final score NAVY v. BLUE won 18-11 (a close score with only 1 or 2 goals difference per quarter) ROYAL v. RED first half 12-5 second half 9-12 (two separate results since the players were switched between teams) This match enabled some of the U14s to get good practise in positions ready for their Regional Tournament in a couple of weeks. The U13s worked extremely well in different combinations & against some 'spurious opposition', namely the stand-in GOAL KEEPER who not only played but coached her opposing GS & GA whilst playing. Thank you so much Steph Maclachlan, you were brill. As always as players you lived up to my expectations & beyond. You never disappoint. Nineteen players turned out from the U13 group bright & early on Saturday morning. The format 5 x 10 minute games, 5 mins each way. This is the second time I have tried this format & I think it works when we have this good number of players. It gives each player more court time. Each match is scored separately results as follows: BLUE v. RED won 6-2 3-2 3-2 DREW 2-2 LOST 1-5 These scores reflect how close the matches all were. The player's skills will develop the more they play (especially in different positions). I have spent some time since September assessing the new players & there is alot of talent flying around these courts! This saturday I was really impressed by D.Tallentire, F.Halter, A.Wood all have great natural defending skills & brilliant timing of movement. WELL DONE. It was a very close competitive game played in good spirits. Well done to all the players, great mutual support. A.Jarvis a brilliant performance, she slotted in easily as if she had played with the team all season. Player of the Match awarded to S.Lawrence she got so many interceptions we could have not have done it without her. The U12s are in line to win this division but this could not have been achieved without all the U12s attending training regularly, playing in the friendly fixtures to give everyone much needed match practice & that good experience of competition. |

The concentration & determination shown by the players was much better in the match situation than at training in the same weather conditions. Players need to apply this positive approach in both situations. Practice badly= play badly, practice well= play well! H.Fowler was the only RED player that played in all four quarters, both K.Bowen & A.Jarvis played in all four quarters for the BLUE team. This made the final quarter rather unbalanced. M.Ellis volunteered to come off in the last quarter which was not the intended plan. H.Fowler was selected because although she always plays well, she played out of her regular playing position & excelled at Centre, Goal Attack & finally Wing Defence. JUNIOR COACHING SESSIONS The junior coaching sessions are on Monday evening 6.00pm- 7.30pm at Rushcliffe Leisure Centre, Boundary Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham during all three school terms. The sessions are led by qualified coaches or coaches who are working towards a qualification and have been CRB checked. Players are coached in separate age groups U11 (school years 5 & 6), U12 (yr.7), U13 (yr.8) & U14 (yr.9). School Year 5 is our normal starting age, but please make enquiries if necessary on 0115 9211129 or 07939 178543 or email ursula@cliftonettes.co.uk. We welcome new members.
There is a £2 training fee per session & an annual affiliation fee of £25.
COMPETITIONS We take part in various competitions ie. Leagues & tournaments both locally and nationally. The England Netball national competitive structure has changed this year. We await details of the competitions for this season.
OUR COMMITMENT We have a strong commitment to working positively with our junior players, encouraging the enjoyment of the sport at all ability levels, ensuring that they take part with respect for their team members, the opposition and all officials.
SPORT EQUITY Cliftonettes Netball Club Junior Section welcomes all prospective new members. In particular we undertake to: Have respect for one another and treat each other with respect Do our best to make netball enjoyable for everyone Value the beliefs and background of others Treat all members fairly whatever their ethnic origin, religion etc. Make participation affordable for all Ensure the use of appropriate language and behaviour at all times
CHILD PROTECTION Cliftonettes Netball Club intend to ensure that children are protected and kept safe from harm whilst in our care. We do this by ensuring that coaching sessions are supervised by a coach with a Level 2 qualification. In addition the Club will: Make sure that coaches, assistant coaches and volunteer helpers know what is expected of them Encourage coaches and assistant coaches to obtain coaching qualifications Encourage coaches to attend child protection courses Make sure that coaches and volunteers are not put in potentially compromising situations with junior players
We do our best to create a friendly and creative environment for all juniors to learn the sport. If a parent/ carer wishes to discuss any aspects of the coaching organisation please contact the Junior Section Secretary Ursula Hammond on 0115 9211129 or 07939 178543. If you wish to raise any other matter please contact our Junior Liaison Officer Jenny Knight on 0115 9469704 or 07841 988515 who is trained in child protection issues. We do not consider that it is the prime responsibility of the Club to identify possible cases of child abuse, whether emotional, physical, sexual or caused by neglect. However, the coaches will report any concerns/ suspicions that they may have, initially to the Junior Section Secretary who may, following appropriate consultation involve the Junior Liaison Officer.
HEALTH AND SAFETY Cliftonettes Netball Club endeavours to provide a safe environment in which juniors can learn the skills of netball. It is also the responsibility of all juniors to respect the safety of each other by: Following instructions as requested by the coach/ assistant coach/ team manager Being aware of other players ability and responding accordingly Not behaving inappropriately and recklessly
We occasionally ask parents/ carers for help in providing transport to competitions away from the local area. In asking for this help we make the assumption that the vehicle used is roadworthy, appropriately insured and that the driver is qualified and fit to drive it. We expect parents/ carers to collect their children at the end of each session. We will ensure that children are not left unsupervised.
FAIR PLAY We expect and encourage junior members/ players to behave in a sporting manner. In particular members/ players should remember that netball, like all sport is played for fun and recreation. It is also a team sport where contribution to the team is more important that individual prowess. We expect all members/ players to: Play by the rules Accept the decisions of the umpire Co- operate with the coach and team members Make a positive contribution to the team and value the contribution of others Make positive comments and responses Be good sports, shake hands with the opposition at the end of the game, thank the umpires etc.
We expect parents/ carers to encourage and promote such positive behaviour through their own example while watching games. |
